Lilla Bonaventura

Biography:

I grew up in the northern parts of Sweden where the rivers freeze with thick ice during wintertime. When I was a little girl, me and my grandfather used to stand at the porch, wearing thick clothes, looking over the white winterland and he told me about Greek mythology. We saw our breath turn into white clouds in front of our faces but in my imagination the landscape of Greek gods performed.

In reality the other part of my family actually lived in Sicily, in the very south of Italy, where Odysseus landed with his ship. When I came to Sicily I found a landscape filled with wine, lemontrees and smell of orangeflowers like thick honey. I loved this place but I didn´t speak the language so well and it was hard to communicate with my own father. I often felt like an outsider - even if I knew that I belonged. This has been a source for me. For many of my songs but also for many trips to Italy, wanting to blend and mix languages, wanting to make my two worlds whole, wanting to belong. Yet being proud of my uniqueness, longing to find peace of mind, but never wanting to stand still.

Through lovestories, through friendship, through knowledge and through music. Expressing life.
